Welcome To the Lollygagging Runner!
My name is Tonya, I am a 35 year old runner! Lollygagging Runner to be exact! What is a lollygagging Runner? Great question…I am runner, who also likes to lollygag. Lollygagging is defined as “spend time aimlessly” and frankly that defines my running, I love to run, but sometimes I get lost along the way and then I aimlessly run my route, looking at the views and landscape, searching and basking in the beauty that surrounds me.
I have run on and off for the past 10ish years. I was never consistent with it, but when I would find myself in a low place in life, struggling with my mental health, I would resort back to throwing on a pair of shoes and going for some runs until I felt better and thought I didn’t need to run anymore. That all changed in 2023 when I started consistently going for runs, walks, and lollygags. November 27th, that changed, I vowed to myself that I would stop self sabotaging and I would commit to running a thousand miles by the end of 2024.
That began my running journey, and the birth of the lollygagging runner! I am almost a year into my journey, I have zero running friends, unless you count the people I stalk on Instagram and TikTok who share their journeys! I don’t think they know how much they mean to me though…in the real non social media world, I have zero running friends to share my journey with, which brings us to the birth of this blog!
I am starting this blog so I have some place to share my journey, it’s like my personal journal for my running life. With that I will forewarn you that I will definitely be sharing other parts of my life. I have two high needs children that I personally home school. A loving fiance who happens to be my junior high sweetheart ( thank you COVID for bringing us back together) , and we have four dogs and one cat. All of which I am sure at some point they will all make a star appearance in my writing. So there it is….a little about me, the Lollygagging runner! Welcome to my life!
